The Bradford Sling® has become synonymous with improving comfort for patients and reducing recovery times across a broad range of surgical procedures.

Used by healthcare professionals for over twenty years, the Bradford Sling® was originally designed and developed to meet heavy patient care requirements after tragic disasters such as the Bradford fire and Piper Alpha.

This heritage recognised in ongoing contributions to the University of Bradford’s Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit.

While originally designed to assist in the treatment of burns, the Bradford Sling® now embraces a wide variety of post-procedural end-uses of differing levels of complexity. It has become the product of choice for healthcare professionals wishing to raise comfort levels and lower recuperation times for patients recovering from complex burns and other trauma.

Use is, however, by no means restricted to burns and plastic surgery and the product has a diverse range of applications wherever elevation of the arm is required. This flexibility allows healthcare professionals to use the sling in the most appropriate way to meet the needs of their patients from the perspectives of both medical and general wellbeing.

The benefits of using the Bradford Sling® include the following:

  • Easy access for wound care
  • Protection for the limb and wound area while still allowing movement
  • Foam construction reduces risk to pressure points
  • Access to hand and wrist area to check limb circulation
  • An additional barrier to wound infection
  • Lightweight and easy-to-use
  • Hook/loop fastenings allowing easy access to inspect the wound area

In addition to its original use with patients recovering from burns and/or plastic surgery, the Bradford Sling® has a broad spectrum of other possible applications including:

  • Vascular Treatment
  • Trauma
  • Elective Orthopaedics
  • Accident and Emergency
  • Radiography
  • Physiotherapy
  • General Medicine
  • General Surgery
  • Intensive and High Dependency Care
  • Oncology
